Look in C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX and open the file with Notepad. Out of the box X-Plane looks better, performs better, and flies better - it just doesn't have the 10 years of addon development that have made FSX and P3D so compelling.It sounds like your dll.xml file has got corrupted? In my opinion, P3D is still the best "end-game" experience, but it takes many hundreds of dollars in addon software (Orbx Global+Vector+LC, a mesh product, ActiveSky Next, PMDG or A2A aircraft etc) to get it there. It's honestly a better starting point than either FSX or P3D. It has a substantially higher cost of entry, but if you're not tied down by a lot of FSX only addons I'd recommend just starting fresh with P3D. FSX:SE does go on sale fairly often, so if you're on the fence you might wait for the spring Steam sales.īarring Dovetail actually announcing a new product though, Prepar3d remains the present and future of the MS ESP code base. Whether the fixes and convenience are worth the price of admission is up to you. It's mostly about the convenience of using Steam to run the game and install the (generally crappy) Dovetail licensed addons. There are some minor bug fixes, but no additional content.
